2.8 trillion yuan invested to build railways during the 13th Five-Year Period

More than 2.8 trillion yuan will be invested building railways over 23,000 kilometers during the 13th five-year period (2016-20), according to the 13th Five-Year Plan on Railway Construction.

The industrial insiders say that China prioritizes the building of railways in the central and western parts of China and also intercity railways. Moreover, governments at all levels will give more support to the building of railways in China during the 13th five-year period.

Investment in railway building remains to be one of the highlights of the 13th Five-Year Plans which the local governments which have been released in recent days.

Hebei is planned to accelerate the building of high-speed railways such as the Beijing-Tangshan Railway, Beijing-Hengshui Railway, Shijiangzhuang-Jinan Railway and construct the Tongzhou-Yanjiao light railway, Yizhuang-Langfang Light Railway, Fangshan-Zhuozhou Light Railway, Daxing-Gu'an Light Railway.

Fujian province makes a preliminary plan of investing 160 billion yuan in building high-speed railways of 1,374 kilometers, which exceeds the current length of all it's high-speed railways.
