Eight top officials of the Communication University of China have been named and shamed for fancy cars and offices and trying to cover up the university's "chaotic" financial management, China’s Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday.

Chen Wenshen, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) committee in the university, was criticized for using office cars exceeding the standards his rank allowed and also using vehicles belonging to inferior departments.

Su Wuzhi, president of the university, was removed from post for having an office "severely beyond" the official standards, using university funds to hold banquets in public venues and putting gifts sent to the university on display in his own office without registering them in university records, in addition to the vehicle violation.

The vice president Lv Zhisheng was also sacked for failing to perform duties to effectively administrate the university and enforce frugality rules, which led to "chaos in financial management" and expenditures in official vehicles, trips and receptions far exceeding budgets.

Both presidents might face further punishment within the CPC system from Beijing's municipal discipline inspection commission.

The other five, ranging from office director to logistics head, were sacked, demoted or warned for fabricating facts and data during anti-corruption inspections and investigations.

The announcement also required that all party officials to learn the lesson, have firm faith and determination in the high aims of the party, prioritize disciplines and rules, and further supervise the power to administrate an upright government and risk management. The ministry called on disciplinary authorities to tighten supervision in the education field.
