BEIJING, Sept. 22 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping left Beijing Tuesday afternoon for his U.S. visit and attendance at a series UN summits.
Xi will pay the state visit to the United States from Sept. 22 to 25 at the invitation of U.S. President Barack Obama.
At the invitation of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Xi will visit the UN headquarters in New York to attend a series summits to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations from Sept. 26 to 28.
Xi's entourage includes his wife Peng Liyuan; Wang Huning, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee; Li Zhanshu, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee; and State Councilor Yang Jiechi.
