During this summer vocation, Wang Jianyu took care of his seriously ill father Wang Xiaotu in the ward. Wang, 6, with a height of less than 1.2 meters, is from Minsheng village, Shaoxing, east China's Zhejiang province. He hoped that his father can enjoy good health.
A month ago, Wang Xiaotu, 46, who is suffering from later stage of lung cancer, was transferred to Shaoxing People's Hospital and his son accompanied him to the hospital.
Wang Jianyu has a severely retarded mother and that explained why he acted as an escort around his father's sickbed during 20 days of chemotherapy.
Wang Xiaotu looked frail after his last round of chemotherapy. Wang lives in a bungalow with three rooms. Every month, Wang and his son merely live on his salary of more than 1,000 yuan and basic subsistence aid allowances.Wang's brother Wang Yaotu and his wife have been looking after Wang's son since Wang was ill.Wang Xiaotu bowed his head and kept murmuring, "Who would take care of my son after I die?"
At this moment, people from different walks of life came to help this family. The doctors and nurses of Shaoxing People's Hospital gave Wang Jianyu 1,800 yuan. A fund-raising initiative was launched by Meihaizhen Central Kindergarten and the Sanhui kindergarten affiliated to the Meihaizhen Central Kindergarten. 18,399 yuan has been raised through the initiative. This amount of money has been entrusted to the council of Mingsheng village to meet the basic subsistence daily needs of the little child Wang Jianyu.
