Cheng Fengying owns a baozi shop at a town in Ningxiang, Hunan Province. Comparing with other women of her age, Cheng looks much older than 35 years old. Four years ago, she was diagnosed with uremia. Her life started to alter because of her illness.
Zhang Houbao who also has a baozi shop at home is one year older than Cheng. Zhang met Cheng in 2001 and fell in love with her. They had a simple wedding in 2003, and had their first daughter in 2007. They run a baozi shop together.
This could be a "live happily ever after" story, however in 2011, Cheng was diagnosed with uremia. She has to take dialysis to sustain her life. Under the pressure of her wife's disease, Zhang divorced Cheng in 2013. He left her 50,000 yuan and their 5-years-old daughter.
In July this year, some volunteers organized a donation event for four poor orphans in Ningxiang. After hearing about the event, Cheng donated 100 yuan without any hesitation. The volunteers found out Cheng is a single mother with uremia and she has a daughter of the second grade and parents to support. The volunteers were moved by Cheng's selfless good deed and called for more people to help her out.
Aug. 22, 2015 is probably the happiest day Cheng Fengying had in years. About 70 people drove all the way from Changsha to buy her baozi at high price. In an hour, Cheng sold out all of the 500 baozi for 10,703 yuan.
