Beijing is planning to shut down factories if the weather conditions are not good during the victory day Parade on September 3.

Chief engineer of the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau Yu Jianhua said he believed the air quality will be good when the military parade is held.

Yu says measures will be tightened to control the discharge of pollutants.

Yu Jianhua also predicts PM2.5 will decline by 45 percent in the run up to the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

The Chinese central government also announced Friday that all state owned companies, private firms, schools and universities in Beijing will be closed from September 3 to 5.

But Employees will have to go to work on Sunday, September 6.

It is the first time that China will hold military parade to commemorate the end of World War II 1945.

To ensure that the city's air quality improves and to smoothen the traffic flow before and during the parade, an "odd-even plate number rule" will be enforced from August 20 to September 3.
