LONDON Jul.27—The innovative classic Puccini opera Turandot will be performed on 30th and 31st July as part of the prestigious Tête à Tête Opera Festival. With Turandot as a warrior princess in the ancient China of Marco Polo and Kublai Khan, the show highlights authentic Chinese culture, with instrumentation in both English and Mandarin and performed in association with the SOAS Silk and Bamboo Ensemble.
Turandot Reimagined is directed by Jonathan Man, whose directing credits range from London to Beijing, demonstrating his passion for exploring interculturalism and pioneering new stories; it is re-orchestrated by composer Ruth Chan, whose work has been programmed at the Hong Kong Arts Festival and recognised by the Arts Council England’s “Artists’ International Development Award”.
