Chinese embassy in Myanmar said Wednesday the life sentence to the 153 Chinese citizens by a Myanmar court is actually not for life serving, 150 of them will serve 20 years, two teenagers will serve 10 year while another drug smuggler will serve 35 years .

According to Beijing based Jinghua Times, the Chinese embassy has already contacted related Myanmar department to negotiate the issue.

Earlier reported said a local court in Myanmar has sentenced 153 Chinese nationals to life imprisonment for illegal logging.

The Chinese nationals were arrested in January for entering the country and involving in illegal logging and timber trade.

Regions along Myanmar's border with China have long been hotbeds for the illegal timber trade. Much of Myanmar's jade is also believed to be illegally smuggled into China.
