'Chuangke' tops the catchwords of mainstream newspapers

The Center for National Language Research (CNLR) of Beijing Language and Culture University releases the top 10 catchwords of 2015 spring & summer in Chinese mainstream newspapers. There are seven categories within the summary including fields like economy, society, and politics etc.

"Chuangke" derives from the English word "maker," which means to make an idea happen. The emergence of the catchword Chuangke, also known as entrepreneur, is closely related the social fact that more and more Chinese people are trying to start up their own enterprise.

Since 2003, CNLR of Beijing Language and Culture University has been summarizing the annual catchwords. “Using one word or one phrase to describe the society is like a miniature of the life we are living in, and it is reflects the beauty of Chinese language,” said Yang Erhong, a director of the CNLR.
