UFA, Russia, July 10 -- The China-Russia-Mongolia economic corridor initiative will generate new opportunities for China-Mongolia cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here Friday.

Wang made the remarks in a meeting with his Mongolian counterpart, Lundeg Purevsuren, on the sidelines of the ongoing 15th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in this southwestern Russian city.

Referring to the trilateral summit held Thursday, Wang said important results were achieved in the meeting, during which the three sides approved a roadmap for the development of their cooperation.

Noting China and Mongolia have upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, Wang suggested that the two neighbors safeguard the healthy growth of bilateral relations on the basis of respecting each other and taking care of each other's major concerns.

The heads of state of China, Russia and Mongolia held their second trilateral meeting on Thursday on the sidelines of the 7th BRICS summit and the 15th SCO summit.

They also witnessed the signing of a memorandum on compiling a guideline for building the trilateral economic corridor, as well as two framework agreements respectively on trilateral trade and on ports of entry.
