GUIYANG/CHANGSHA, June 23 -- Torrential rain in central and southwest China over the weekend has left seven people dead and thousands displaced, the local governments said.
In Guizhou Province, landslides killed four and two died when a building collapsed. As of Tuesday, about 150,000 residents from 21 counties in the province had been affected by the storms and floods, 4,500 had been relocated and another 4,200 are in need of government assistance.
In Hunan Province, a landslide buried a house killing one and injuring another on Sunday. The torrential rain, which began on Wednesday, had affected 225,900 people in nine counties and cities and 42,500 have been evacuated.
