MOSCOW, May 21  -- China's proposal to build "a community of common destiny" serves as a guidance to Eurasia regional cooperation as well as global development, Russian experts have said.

China's insight into international situation highlighted an interdependent relationship among all nations and their peoples, said Yakov Berger, senior researcher with the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences

"Any attempt from one country to harm others may finally hurt itself too," he added.

Berger was joined by another Russian expert in echoing the Chinese remarks, made by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 2013. Xi pointed out that the world is developing into "a community of common destiny" with deepening interdependence and interaction.

Grigory Trofimchuk, from the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, specified that the Chinese proposal envisages the setup of a pan-Asian system which would positively influence the global community.

He expected the system to begin with economic cooperation, to be"secured by Eurasia-wide communication infrastructure, both on land through the Silk Road Economic Belt and at sea through the21st-Century Maritime Silk Road."

Both experts agreed that building "a community of common destiny" matters to Russia in particular.

Trofimchuk said that the proposal, along with China's "Belt and Road" initiative, could link the Asia-Pacific region with the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union which also involves Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

"Russia and China should work together both at land and sea to shape Eurasia-wide common space for economic cooperation and prosperity," said Trofimchuk.

He believed that the Chinese vision would help eliminate disputes rather than stir up rivalry in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to Berger, Moscow supports China's efforts toward new-type international relations centered on win-win cooperation, as shown in deepened Sino-Russian comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination, and in bilateral cooperation on global issues and other common challenges.

A "community of common destiny" would allow for neither hegemony led by any country nor shortsighted pursuit of only economic benefits, the Russian experts said.

"Some may say the vision is too idealistic to realize, but it is important that a big country (like China) set such a goal and become a beacon for other nations," said Trofimchuk.
