MOSCOW, May 8-- Russian President Vladimir Putin said here Friday that he will join Chinese President Xi Jinping in commemorating the victory of World War Two (WWII) in Beijing later this year.
"Tomorrow, together with other foreign leaders, we will take part in the events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the victory in WWII," Putin told a joint press conference with Xi.
"In September, in Beijing, we will celebrate the end of WWII and will honor the memory of those who fought shoulder-to-shoulder against militarist Japan," he added.
Noting that Russia and China suffered the greatest losses in the war, Putin said, "We always oppose any attempt to deny, distort or falsify history, and fight against any move to beautify Fascists, militarists and their accomplices or the moves to sling mud to liberators."
