San Francisco, April 27, (People's Daily Online)----Chinese Americans in San Francisco are planning nation-wide protests against "Reviving Militarism by Abe" during Japanese Primary Minister Shinzo Abe's weeklong visit to the United States.

During the trip, Abe will address a joint session of US Congress on Wednesday and meet with Barack Obama, as well as stop in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

US newspaper "Los Angeles" reports that "Timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, Abe's trip will no doubt rekindle painful memories for some Americans and key allies."

The protest named "Chinese American Against Reviving Militarism By Abe" is organized by Global Alliance for Preserving The History of WWII in Asia, a non-profit organization dedicated to disclosing truthfully the facts about the Asia-Pacific War.

According to Ding Yuan, spokesman of the organization in San Francisco, all the participants will protest in front of Japanese Consulates on April 28, the same day when Abe delivers a speech at the US Congress. A news conference will be held on April 29 to refute and denounce Abe's improper remarks. When Abe visits San Francisco on April 30, local Chinese Americans will gather in front of the Japanese Consulate General in San Francisco to protest.

Betty Yuan, leader of the organization in San Francisco said, "Despite the widely accepted historical facts about the Japanese Imperial Army's system that forced an established 200,000 women from China, Taiwan, and Korea into sexual slavery, Abe and other right wing Japanese nationalists have recently made national and international attempts to rewrite this part of history."

Many South Korean civic groups has also organized protests to criticize Japan's failure to adequately compensate the so-called comfort women from Korea, China and other Asian countries forced into sexual servitude for Japanese troops.

Yuan said that the demonstrations join continued international efforts by historians, activists, and others to establish the historical truth of the "Comfort Women" system as well as push the Japanese government to admit its war crimes.
