During China's annual two sessions (the National People's Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) ), issues attracting close attention will include income distribution, food and drug safety, environmental management, employment and entrepreneurship, education reform, social security, housing security, pension reform, household registration reform, and poverty, according to analysis by the People’s Daily Online Public Opinion Monitoring Center and surveys by People's Daily Online and Xinhua.net.

"Income distribution" has ranked among the hottest topics for the past five years, and this year it has climbed to first place, with 530,000 votes. The rising ranking shows that people want a greater share of the reform dividend and that they expect justice and equality. According to analysis by People’s Daily Online Public Opinion Monitoring Center, more than 4,000 articles on the issue have been published by the media over the past week.

Since 2011, food and drug safety has gradually drawn the attention of Internet users. 420,000 web users voted for food and drug safety in the People's Daily survey.

With increasing public awareness of environmental protection, this has also become a hot topic for the two sessions. It ranks fifth on Xinhua.net and seventh on People's Daily Online. More than 10,000 reports on environment protection have been issued by media.

The Xinhua.net survey shows that health care reform ranks third.

Social security has topped the list in previous surveys during the two sessions from 2011 to 2014. However, it slipped to ninth this year, according to the People's Daily Online survey.
