The Chinese Embassy, in a statement posted on its facebook, made its concern and regret over the injuries and death, and also noted that in the turmoil the Chinese workers who are peacefully implementing the project have been attacked.

The embassy said the Letpadaung mining project is an important joint project between China and Myanmar, and voiced support for the project to be implemented in a peaceful and secure manner, while opposing any kind of violence.

The embassy said that China and Myanmar are traditional neighbors and mutually beneficial co-operation meets the common interests of both sides.

The embassy also stressed that the Chinese government consistently requires overseas Chinese enterprises to abide by the laws and regulations in the host countries, while carrying out social responsibility and obligations and focusing on environment protection.
