(Pu'er Daily) -- In 2014, Pu'er witnessed rapid development in the exploitation and utilization of renewable energy such as hydroelectricity, wind power generation, biomass power generation, and PV power generation, and made great strides in such aspects as project preparation, project construction, and installed capacity.
With a total water resources volume of 82.9 billion cubic meters and theoretical water resources reserves of 15 million kilowatts, Pu'er ranks among China's richest regions in terms of water resources. Over 100 level-4 rivers or above in the drainage systems of the Lancang River, the Nujiang River and the Red River run through Pu'er. By this October, 126 hydropower stations (including cross-prefecture hydropower stations) had been built in Pu'er, with a total installed capacity of 8.8 million kilowatts, a total generating capacity of 26.4 billion kilowatts, and an output value of 6.8 billion yuan.
As for wind power project construction, two of Pu'er's wind power projects have been approved, namely the Mojiang Lianzhu Wind Farm with an installed capacity of 49,500 kilowatts and the Lancang Jialaibo Wind Farm expected to be built up and go into operation in mid-December 2014 with an installed capacity of 48,000 kilowatts. Ninger Xiaojing Wind Farm has been included the national approval plan and is scheduled to go into production next June.
As for biomass power generation, the Jinggu biomass power generation project with an installed capacity of 30,000 kilowatts was approved in August 2013 and is progressing in an orderly manner. With abundant sunshine, Pu'er has bright prospects for developing solar PV power generation projects, and has applied to the province and the state for the approval of 5 PV power generation projects by 2015.
