December 1 (Pu'er Daily) -- On Nov. 18, the ground-breaking ceremony of the Yunnan Lancang civil airport was held in Lancang county, signifying that Pu'er will become the fourth prefecture-level city in Yunnan to have two airports.
Located in Donghui town, Lancang Lahu autonomous county, Pu'er, the airport under construction is at the center of an area formed by the three border counties of Lancang, Menglian, and Ximeng, and is a domestic feeder line facility expected to serve a population of more than 800,000. The project is a construction project in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan for the Development of China's civil aviation and a key construction project in Yunnan.
The current phase of the project was designed with a passenger throughput of 250,000 persons and a cargo throughput of 750 tons by 2020. In the current phase, a runway that is 2,600 meters long and 45 meters wide, a 3,000-square-meter terminal, and four aircraft stands will be constructed, with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan. The phase involves auxiliary works such as communications, navigation, lighting, and meteorological facilities.
