BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- "Chinese economy and 60 million netizens cannot live without the Internet. China is stepping into a new era of digital transform." said Tian Shubin, president of Xinhuanet, at the seventh China U.S. Internet Industry Forum on Tuesday.
He made an address at the forum, talking about the current situation on Internet in China and the global situation on the Internet development.
During the 20 years of being access to the global Internet, new medias, social networks and mass information flow have been created, which leads to the emerging of the largest group of netizens in the world and many vigorous Internet companies.
Being an Internet giant in the world, China is aware of the distance that it has on the Internet tech and technical services with some advanced countries such as the United States. China is pushing on the progress on Internet development.
The seventh China U.S. Internet Industry Forum began in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, bringing over 150 government officials, industry leaders and academics to discuss the reality and prospects of cooperation on cyber issue between the two countries.
The two-day forum is co-hosted by the Microsoft Corporation and the Internet Society of China.
