BEIJING, Nov. 18 -- Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong called for more efforts to unleash innovation in Chinese society and promoting the upgrade of traditional industries.
During a recent inspection tour in south China's Guangdong Province, Liu said priority should be given to innovation-driven development strategies, deepening science and technology reform to create new growth engines and momentum for better-quality economic growth.
She stressed coordination of innovative science, technology, fiscal, financial and personnel policies to promote the upgrading of China's traditional industries.
Liu urged efforts to improve financing services for businesses, startups in particular, build first-class science and technology innovation centers with global influence, and carve out a way for economic growth boosted by innovation and industrial upgrading.
China should keep in line with the trends in frontier science and technology and industrial breakthroughs, tackle key problems to create original innovation fruits, stand on the commanding heights of global competition, and aims at a "Created-in-China" web-economy, Liu added.
