Rome, November 10 - Expo 2015 host city Milan will be the site of the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards, to be held in the northern Italian city's Mediolanum Forum as part of the world's fair.
"The goal is to succeed in making this the best edition ever of the EMA," said Andrea Castellari, senior vice-president and general manager of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) for Italy, Turkey and the Middle East.
VIMN is the international division of Viacom, which has MTV as one of its brands.
The choice of Milan as host city, the third time that Italy will host the music awards show and the second time the show will take place at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, was announced on Sunday during the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards.
Castellari said the choice of Milan as host city will give Milan, MTV Italy, and the country itself the chance to "show the world our great potential".
Castellari's sentiments were seconded by Raffaelle Annecchino, executive vice-president and managing director of VIMN South Europe, Middle East & Africa.
"The MTV EMA excites huge interest among Italian fans, so it's fantastic to be able to bring the show back to Milan," Annecchino said.
The awards are expensive to host, he added.
Milan is an "iconic city where art, fashion and music collide", said Bruce Gillmer, executive producer of the MTV EMA and executive vice president of music-talent programming and events for VIMN.
"The 2004 show in Rome was a huge success. Now, we're looking forward to delivering an even bigger and better experience with the 2015 MTV EMA in partnership with Expo, bringing thousands of people from around the world to Milan," said Gillmer.
The MTV EMA show was held once before in Milan in 1998.
Show awards are voted on by fans, and span 17 categories with the overall prize going to Best Song.
The 2015 event is scheduled for October 25.
