BEIJING, Oct. 31 -- China prosecuted 21,652 officials accused of bribery in the first nine months of the year, with 13,414 of those cases resulting in convictions, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) revealed Friday.
Of those prosecuted, 13,437 had their judgements handed down, including 13,414 who were found guilty and 23 who were judged to be innocent, the SPP's anti-bribery head Xu Jinhui said at the SPP's press conference.
Xu said procuratorates across the country had grilled 35,633 officials from January to September, 319 were at a mayor level or higher.
