BEIJING, Oct. 9 -- China's supervision system for food and medicine must be upgraded, said a notice from the State Council on Thursday.
The supervision system should link central and local governments with the grassroots, and cover the whole undertaking of production, processing, circulation and consumption, the notice said.
Regions slow to reform the supervision system must take solid measures and map out timetables. Enforcement personnel and technology are the responsibility of local governments, it said.
Food and medicine security is crucial to people's wellbeing and local governments must improve their performance, the notice said.
