N'DJAMENA, July 22 -- China's ambassador to Chad Hu Zhiqiang on Monday donated to the Chadian government 6,180 solar kits worth 3 million U.S. dollars for domestic use, an official source has said.
The donation was made in line with the agreement signed on Oct. 26, 2013 between the two countries, which also envisioned the training of over 120 Chadian technicians in the area of solar energy.
Chad's Energy Minister Djerassem Le-Bemadiel said the solar kits will be distributed to hospitals across the country.
The minister thanked China for the donation which will help address recurrent power cuts in Chad, adding that such donations will help strengthen friendly ties between China and Chad.
Le-Bemadjiel said his country plans to develop its energy and was currently mobilizing money for the construction of infrastructures in the energy sector so that "each Chadian can have electricity in his home."
