China, India and Myanmar are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated his counterparts and the people of India and Myanmar on Saturday, expressing warm congratulations and goodwill from China.

The Five principles of Peaceful Coexistence are a set of norms governing international relations. It was first put forward by Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai in 1954 and then co-established by China, India and Myanmar. The five principles are: mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non- interference in each other’s internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence.
