Peking University opened the Yanjing School on May 5 2014.
The school is intended to provide a one year postgraduate program on China Studies. It will recruit 100 fresh graduates for 2015 from around the world. 35 will come from the Chinese mainland and the other 65 from Hong Kong, Macau and other countries. The first group of students will commence their studies in September 2015.
Students can choose a wide range of courses from 6 areas: philosophy and religion, history and archaeology, literature and culture, economics and management, law and society, public policy and international relations.
It is planned that universities who sign cooperation agreements with Peking University can recommend students to the program. As these ageements are not yet operational, for the time being students will apply as individuals.
According to Professor Liu Wei, managing vice president of Peking University, the Yanjing School is intended to be a teaching and research institute as well as a think tank.
