BEIJING, May 14 -- Top Chinese political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Wednesday met with visiting Pakistan Senate Chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari on stronger bilateral ties.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), characterized China and Pakistan as "good partners, neighbors and brothers".
China-Pakistan relations have been increasingly solid since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1951 and become the paradigm of how countries can get along and work with each other, Yu said.
China will, as always, take a strategic and long-term view of relations, strengthen bilateral coordination on major international issues and upgrade bilateral strategic coordination, Yu said.
Yu also underscored the CPPCC's commitment to developing friendly relations with the Pakistan Senate and called for joint efforts to enhance cooperation and contribute more wisdom and vigor to bilateral relations.
Bukhari said Pakistan-China friendly cooperation works for the interests of the two peoples and reaffirmed Pakistan's support to issues concerning China's core interests.
Bukhari said the Pakistan Senate would like to work more closely with the CPPCC and seek growth of bilateral ties.
Earlier on Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping also met with Bukhari, who will conclude the visit on Friday.
