BEIJING, March 18 -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday held talks with his visiting Ugandan counterpart Sam Kutesa on bilateral ties, according to an official press release.

Hailing China-Uganda relations since they established diplomatic ties in 1962, Wang called on the two sides to further enhance exchanges between governments, legislatures, parties as well as at local level.

China and Uganda should strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, energy, resources, agriculture, telecommunications, tourism, human resources and other fields as well as push forward major cooperation projects, Wang said.

He also called on the two sides to increase people-to-people exchanges including youth exchanges and coordination in the United Nations and other multilateral organizations.

Kutesa said Uganda appreciated China's assistance, and stressed that the two sides should enhance cooperation in the international arena to safeguard the common interests of developing countries.

The visiting minister said Uganda condemned the terrorist attack in southwest China's Kunming City on March 1 and expressed concern on the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
