BEIRUT, Feb. 19 -- The Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Jiang Jiang conveyed Wednesday to Lebanon's new Prime Minister Tammam Salam China's congratulations on the formation of the new government.
Ambassador Jiang told reporters following his meeting with Salam at the Grand Serail "I had a good meeting with the Prime Minister and conveyed to him the congratulations of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang."
He said "China welcomes the formation of Lebanon's new cabinet which will help the Lebanese people's efforts to maintain stability and boost the economy and their living conditions."
He added that "Lebanon and China are two friendly countries and enjoy a long history of friendship and we are ready to work with our Lebanese partners in order to boost and strengthen our mutual relations."
The new Lebanese government was formed on February 15 after 10 months of deadlock.
