BEIJING, Feb. 17 -- Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying on Monday said China welcomes the newly formed Lebanese cabinet and hopes it will help the Middle Eastern country cope with various challenges.

After more than 10 months of deadlock, a new Lebanese cabinet was announced on Saturday headed by Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

Hua said that China also hopes relevant sides in Lebanon will take the occasion as an opportunity, continue dialogue and consultation as well as jointly safeguard national security and stability.
