BANGKOK, Dec. 27 -- The Chinese embassy in Thailand confirmed by 6 p.m. local time on Friday that two Chinese citizens were killed in a deadly bus accident in a north Thai province on Thursday night.

The embassy said it is now trying to contact the families of the two in China and ask them to come to Thailand to identify the bodies. Meanwhile, it will keep in close contact with the Thai side and continue to follow the latest development.

According to the embassy, a coach carrying 37 people fell off a bridge in north Thailand's Phetchabun province at around 11 p.m. Thursday while heading to Chiang Rai province, leaving 30 people dead, four seriously injured and three others missing.

The police are still searching for those who remain missing.
