BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) held their first dialogue on diplomatic security in Beijing on Monday, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
Spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular press briefing that the bureau-level dialogue was attended by staff from the two countries' foreign ministries and defense ministries.
During the dialogue, the two sides exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern and agreed to enhance communication on strategic issues and step up cooperation in all fields in a bid to safeguard regional peace, stability and development, Hua said.
Hua said the dialogue is part of the joint statement inked between China and the ROK during ROK president Park Geun-hye's visit to China in June and both sides enhanced political mutual trust and deepened coordination through the dialogue.
Hua said that China is willing to work with the ROK, by taking the advantage of the dialogue, to make greater contributions to safeguarding peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
