China's Huawei Company on Sunday donated laptops, cash gift, stationery and food to a Cambodian non-governmental organization Khemara, which provides education to about 300 poor children in Phnom Penh.

Jason Han, representative of Huawei Company, provided 10 laptops, 2,000 U.S. dollars, writing books, pens, and food to the organization and children.

"There are many children living in very poor condition and needing help," he said. "We hope that the donation will help relieve their difficulties."

He added that with attention and assistance from the whole society, he believed that these poor children could grow up happily with knowledge and skills.

Koy Phallany, executive director of Khemara, said those poor children have been studying in six kindergartens run by the organization.

"This is the first time that Huawei Company made donation to our organization," she told Xinhua over telephone. "This truly shows the company's attention to help Cambodian poor children."

Founded in 1991, Khemara has been working to promote the capacity, self-confidence and well-being for poor children through education, she said.

Huawei is a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider. The firm's products and solutions have been deployed in over 140 countries, serving more than a third of the world's population.
