KATHMANDU, Dec. 18 -- Ai Ping, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has suggested the UCPN (Maoist) to focus on the constitution writing process, UCPN leaders here said on Wednesday.
In a meeting with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, the Chinese vice minister, who led a delegation for a visit here, suggested the Maoist party to forge an alliance with other parties to draft a new constitution as soon as possible.
The UCPN (Maoist) has relegated to third position from the Nov. 19 election.
In the meeting, Prachanda told the Chinese delegates that parties will soon reach a consensus which will speed up the constitution drafting process.
The Chinese delegation arrived in Nepal on Tuesday for the four- day visit of Nepal. Ai is first high level international dignitary to visit Nepal after the Nov. 19 Constituent Assembly ( CA) to draft a new constitution of Himalayan nation within a year.
The delegation will meet top leaders of major parties and discuss the Constituent Assembly (CA) election and subsequent process of constitution drafting and government formation.
