KUWAIT CITY, Nov. 19 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message via his envoy to the Third Arab- African Summit convened in Kuwait on Tuesday.
In his message, Xi spoke highly of the achievements made by the Arab and African countries in various aspects through cooperation, expressing his confidence that the countries in the two regions will seize new historic opportunities to accomplish more in their collaboration.
Xi also stressed China has always regarded its effort to develop ties with the Arab and African countries as a key direction in its foreign diplomacy, and is willing to work with them to promote the China-Arab strategic cooperative relations and the new type of China-Africa strategic partnership.
The Chinese president's message was read at the summit by his special envoy Li Liguo, China's minister of civil affairs.
Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-sabah, for his part, expressed his appreciation for Xi's remarks.
The two-day summit, with the theme of "Partners in Development and Investment," has attracted more than 71 Arab and African leaders or representatives as well as envoys from countries outside the regions and international organizations. Participants are expected to exchange views on how to boost the Arab-African cooperation in the fields of investment, security and agriculture.
