HANOI, Oct. 15 -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said here Tuesday that he hoped Chinese and Vietnamese youths can make more contributions to promoting the traditional friendship of the two countries.
Li, who is on an official visit to the Southeast Asian nation, joined representatives of youth from both China and Vietnam at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, on Tuesday.
While addressing the young people, the Chinese premier said his visit was aimed at making the traditional China-Vietnam friendship even more stronger, and boosting cooperation so as to ensure a long-term and healthy development of bilateral friendly ties.
He called on the young people to play an active and steadfast role in the great causes of their respective nations, and pledged to promote youth exchanges.
Li also said the Chinese government will offer more scholarships for Vietnamese students.
Vietnam is the last leg of the Li's Southeast Asia tour, which has already taken him to Brunei and Thailand.
In Brunei, the Chinese premier also attended a series of meetings with East Asian leaders.
