HONG KONG, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong and South Korea signed an agreement on transfer of sentenced persons here on Tuesday.
Secretary for Security TK Lai and South Korean Consul General in Hong Kong Cho Yong-chun signed the agreement.
"The transfer of sentenced persons to their place of origin, by returning them to an environment free of language and cultural barriers and where their friends and relatives can visit regularly, is conducive to their rehabilitation," Lai said.
This is the 14th agreement of this kind Hong Kong has signed with other jurisdictions, including Australia, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Macao, the Philippines, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
