BANGKOK, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The government of Thailand on Thursday offered 5 million baht (about 172,000 U.S. dollars) in donation to help with earthquake relief in China's Sichuan province.
On behalf of the Thai government, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Surapong Tovichakchaikul presented the donation to Guan Mu, Chinese ambassador to the kingdom.
In an interview with Xinhua, Suraporn said Thailand and China have maintained a time-tested friendly relationship and supported each other in face of major natural disasters.
He noted that China offered assistance to Thailand as the kingdom suffered from flooding crisis in 2011.
"A lot of supports came from China to Thailand. Thai people never forget that. So this time when earthquake hit China, we never forget. We would like to support and help Chinese people to get back to the normal," said the minister.
