BEIJING, Nov. 22 (People's Daily Online) -- China welcomes Yemen's progress in implementing a political transition agreement signed one year ago, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Friday.
The Chinese side respects Yemeni people's independent choice over their development path and hopes related parties in Yemen continue to resolve differences through peaceful means such as dialogue and consultation, Hua said at a daily news briefing.
China hopes Yemen sticks to implementing the deal initiated by the Gulf Cooperation Council so as to steadily push forward the country's political transition process and achieve national stability and development at an early date, the spokeswoman added.
The Yemeni government and related parties signed the Gulf-brokered power transfer deal in Saudi Arabia's capital of Riyadh on Nov. 23, 2011, according to previous reports.
