BEIJING, May 14 -- The Mainland's Taiwan affairs spokesman on Wednesday suggested Taiwan authorities respect business choices when commenting on a cross-Strait outsourcing deal blocked on "security grounds".
Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks at a regular press conference on Wednesday.
Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. planned to purchase equipment from a mainland manufacturer, Huawei Technologies Limited, for 4G base stations. The deal was thwarted by authorities on the island for fear of leaking classified information.
Ma suggested Taiwan authorities refrain from mingling its mainland trade policies with considerations on other fronts.
