GUANGZHOU, May 13 -- A new human H7N9 infection case has been reported in south China's Guangdong Province, provincial health authorities said Tuesday, which also confirmed that a patient with the bird flu virus died earlier this month.
The new case is a 50-year-old man in Zhongshan City, who is in critical condition, said the provincial health and family planning committee.
An H7N9 patient from Guangzhou, the provincial capital, died on May 4 due to respiratory failure.
In April alone, five H7N9 patients died in Guangdong.
So far, more than 120 people in China have been infected by the H7N9 strain of the bird flu this year, including dozens of deaths.
