GUANGZHOU, May 4 -- Guangzhou police said on Sunday that a man suspected of killing a family of six during a home robbery has been detained.
The suspect, surnamed Su, 29, has confessed that he robbed the home in Panyu District of south China's Guangzhou City because he needed money to continue his online gaming.
Su was caught at 5 a.m. Saturday in Nancun Township of Panyu District. A gold chain and several bank cards belonging to the victims were retrieved from the suspect's residence.
Police said Su carried knives and broke into an apartment on the 22nd floor of a building at 3 a.m. on April 28. He killed all six people inside the apartment during a fight that ensued after the homeowner discovered Su.
Su fled the scene with 6,000 yuan in cash, one gold chain and several bank cards, according to the police.
Further investigation into the case is under way.
