Construction site collapse kills 5 in N China

TAIYUAN, Nov. 2-- Five workers died on Saturday in north China's Shanxi Province after part of a construction site collapsed, local authorities said.

The accident happened at about 1 a.m. in Nanjiao District of Datong City, burying five workers, according to the district government.

As of 6:10 p.m., all five were pulled out, including three who died at the scene. Two others died after emergency treatment failed, the government said.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
