Budget carrier Spring Airlines Co Ltd received its first Airbus A320 with Sharklets on Tuesday, expanding its fleet size to 38.
The aircraft equipped with Sharklets fuel-saving wingtip devices will operate on business flights between Shanghai and Shenzhen, and Shanghai and Changchun, Jilin province from Friday. New routes between Shanghai and Zhanjiang, Guangdong province; and Hangzhou and Changsha, Hunan province, will also be serviced by the new aircraft.
Earlier in May, Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines Corp Ltd became the nation's first carrier to take delivery of A320s equipped with Sharklets.
Sharklets are 2.4-meter wingtip extensions made from lightweight composites. They offer operators up to 4-percent fuel reduction on long-range sectors and provide the flexibility of either adding an additional 100 nautical miles range or increased payload capability of up to 450 kilograms.
