Fifty-three people were given prison terms on Thursday of up to 8 years for running casinos in east China's Zhejiang Province.
Chen Guangjia, a shareholder and chief financial officer of Guangzhou Jinyi Animation Technology Co. Ltd, was sentenced to 8 years in jail for running casinos, according to Wenling People's Court ruling.
Chen was also fined 3 million yuan (486,000 U.S. dollars).
Another 44 accomplices were given terms ranging from 14 months to 90 months and fined up to 2 million yuan.
Thirty-two of them were given a reprieve.
They were accused of making profits of about 50 million yuan by providing gambling machines to a number of amusement arcades. Most of the amusement arcades are based in Wenling City.
Running casinos is illegal in China.
