Suzhou police are hunting for a man who allegedly sprayed an unknown chemical solution on young women in five separate attacks last week.
Police said they received reports of five attacks in the Shilu and Lingering Garden areas. The attacks occurred between 5pm and 8pm, www.jschina.com.cn reported today.
One victim, a bakery shop assistant, said the suspect entered her shop last Friday, took out a bottle and shook it before spraying an unknown liquid at her face. "He left quickly and I couldn't see anything. The liquid smelled so pungent that I felt dazed," she said.
Doctors said her face was burned by the chemical but she was in good condition after treatment. The liquid is still being analyzed.
Surveillance video footages showed the suspect wearing a white jacket and black cricket cap. Police are asking the public to provide clues to the man's whereabouts.
