CHENGDU, April 25 (Xinhua) -- A total of 61 people were injured and 46,592 were affected when a 4.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Yibin City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Thursday morning, local authorities said.
More than 29,000 houses had been destroyed or damaged in the quake as of 2:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Yibin municipal emergency response office.
About 14,000 people have been relocated. Direct economic losses are estimated at 291 million yuan (46.7 million U.S. dollars), according to the office.
The earthquake hit the juncture of Changning, Gongxian and Xingwen counties of Yibin City at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
A 7.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Lushan County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, on Saturday has claimed nearly 200 lives.
