China has more than 200 million citizens aged 60 or older, which accounts for 14 percent of its total population, according to data issued by China's National Working Commission on Aging.

With rapid aging, the series of challenges after retirement like nursing services and old-age pensions have emerged.

During the annual political sessions in early March, 84.5 percent of 4,562 young workers surveyed by China Youth Daily said that the national pension system played a role in their career choices.

Improving and equalizing the current pension insurance scheme is of high concern to about 80 percent of those surveyed.

Nursing services for empty-nesters or disabled elders are also hot issues, according to the survey.
