TAIYUAN, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- A total of 40 people received judicial or disciplinary punishments for their roles in covering up a fatal tunnel explosion that occurred in north China's Shanxi Province on Dec. 25, local authorities said Tuesday.
They included 14 people employed by Erchu Co. Ltd. under the China Railway Tunnel Group, which contracted the tunnel project, said Liu Dezheng, a spokesman for the provincial work safety commission.

Six people were involved in covering up the accident, Liu said.
