BEIJING, October 16 (ChinaMil) -- Chang Wanquan, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC), state councilor and minister of national defense of the People's Republic of China (PRC), carried out investigation and study into frontier defense and national defense mobilization work in west China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region from October 9 to 15, 2013.
During the investigation and study tour, Chang Wanquan went deep down to front-line sentry posts, border areas and entry posts, asked frontier defense officers and men about their training and living conditions, learnt about the situation of the building of militia and reserve force, and inspected anti-terrorism, stability-maintaining and disaster-relief equipment.
Chang Wanquan also had an in-depth exchange of views with military and civilian leaders, and listened to their work reports, opinions and suggestions on frontier defense and national defense mobilization work.
Chang Wanquan stressed that it is imperative to constantly improve frontier defense and national defense mobilization work, so as to make contributions to social development and stability in Xinjiang.
Leaders of the Lanzhou Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region participated in the investigation and study.
